B.C. NDP reject improvements to paid sick leave
VICTORIA, B.C. – The B.C. Green Caucus introduced two amendments to improve the government’s paid sick leave legislation, both of which the government has indicated it is not willing to advance. The amendments would have increased the number of paid sick days from three to five and provided the eventual permanent paid sick leave program with legislative oversight.
Landmark IEA report shows BC NDP fossil fuel expansion at odds with Net Zero future
VICTORIA, B.C. - Sonia Furstenau, leader of the BC Greens and MLA for Cowichan Valley released the following statement in response to the new International Energy Agency (IEA) roadmap to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050. The report’s analysis of natural gas shows that a significant decrease in LNG production is necessary in order to achieve the emissions reductions required to reach the Paris Agreement aim of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
