Statement from Andrew Weaver on corporate and union political donations

VICTORIA B.C. – B.C. Green Party leader Andrew Weaver released the following statement in response to B.C. Liberal and B.C. NDP positions on corporate and union political donations:

“Leaders lead. They walk the talk, even when it’s difficult. Sadly once again both the B.C. Liberals and the B.C. NDP have shown us this week that they aren’t willing to take action now, which is what British Columbians want. The B.C. Liberals are just laughing it off, while the B.C. NDP will only do something about it if they win the election. In the meantime, both of them will accept the same potentially corrupting money that is making B.C. the wild west of politics, even by American standards.”

B.C. Green Party ends 2016 with record fundraising results

VICTORIA B.C. – The B.C. Green Party raised $763,667 in 2016, a 93% increase over its 2015 revenue. While the party has raised an average of 48% more year-over-year since the election of leader Andrew Weaver in 2013, the party raised more than its entire 2015 revenue in just the last three months of 2016 since it banned corporate and union donations.
