BC Green Party Supports the Supreme Court decision on Bill 22

The BC Green Party supports the Supreme Court decision that Bill 22 was unconstitutional, and regrets the BC Government’s decision to appeal this ruling. After nearly a decade before the courts, and two separate rulings outlining the unconstitutionality of stripping class size and composition from bargaining rights, it’s time we moved  forward. 

Groundhog Day

Today, February 2nd, is Groundhog Day and we're watching for the groundhog to emerge from it's burrow. According to folklore, if the groundhog sees it's shadow we're in for six more weeks of winter, if it doesn't, then spring will come early.

Here at the BC Green Party, we’ve been busy working hard all winter and now that Groundhog Day has rolled around it’s time to take a peek out and see what the future might bring.

Derelict vessels continue to pollute BC coastline

Derelict Boat - Credit Flickr: GenistaFor decades mayors, councillors, trustees and regional directors have passed resolutions at the UBCM asking for senior governments to take care of the derelict & abandoned vessels, illegal mooring buoys and human waste dumping that pollute their local shorelines.

Unfortunately, senior governments have ignored this marine pollution and left cleanup to the local government and regional districts to coordinate, manage and in many cases, finance.
