VICTORIA B.C. – The B.C. Green Party announced today that the following candidates have been nominated: 

Furstenau on NDP net-zero emissions promise: Targets without action are greenwashing

VICTORIA B.C. – Sonia Furstenau, Leader of the B.C. Green Party, says the B.C. NDP’s promise of net-zero emissions by 2050 is meaningless without a plan to achieve it. Studies show that when the B.C. NDP's LNG Canada fossil fuel project is factored in, emissions from oil and gas production will exceed the BC’s existing 2050 target by 160 per cent, even if all other emissions are reduced to zero by 2035.

Saanich B.C. – B.C. Green Leader Sonia Furstenau today announced the BC Greens commitment to begin to shift away from a for-profit care model into one that supports and prioritizes the expansion of a high-quality and accessible public seniors care system in B.C. She was joined in Saanich by Adam Olsen, BC Green Candidate for Saanich North and Islands for the announcement.

Furstenau releases statement on Orange Shirt Day

VICTORIA B.C. – B.C. Green Leader Sonia Furstenau released the following statement on Orange Shirt Day:

“Today we recognize those who have been impacted by horrific injustices in residential schools. This is a time to acknowledge the past and current trauma, honour survivors, and mourn the lives of those who never made it home. Indigenous communities are still facing lasting impacts of traumatic experiences in the residential school system.
