Here is a unique opportunity hosted by UVic's Dr. Karun Thanjavur, Senior Lab Instructor, and his student volunteers--for families to explore their astronomy questions through fun activities, including observing (weather permitting!) with UVic's powerful telescope. The event occurs cloudy or clear with family-oriented activities, including a presentation about the role of a putative "Planet B" in our future.
There is a limited number of spaces in the observatory, so it is imperative that if you are coming you RSVP. You may be contacted at a date close to the event to confirm. Please understand that by confirming your space, it will be held for you, (potentially prohibiting someone else from attending). If you find you are unable to attend, we ask that you let us know to open that space for someone else.
Dress warmly: Observatory is at night time temperatures. Volunteers in the lobby will greet and direct participants.

Protecting your health
BC Greens recognize that airborne illnesses and pollutants pose a significant health risk to everyone, especially the young, elderly, and immunocompromised, while caregivers, healthcare professionals, and support staff come into regular contact with vulnerable persons. When choosing venues, BC Greens prioritize outdoor spaces, and indoor spaces with good ventilation. In closed indoor spaces, we encourage attendees to wear well-fitting masks (N95, KN95, or KF94), especially during the respiratory-illness season.
Creating safe spaces
The BC Green Party is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination and harassment, where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, can contribute fully and have equal speaking opportunities. To support this commitment, all event attendees will be expected to follow the standards of our Safe Spaces Participant's Guide.
