B.C. Green Party on importance of National Aboriginal Day

Victoria, B.C. – The B.C. Green Party celebrates the cultural diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis in British Columbia and Canada. This year on National Aboriginal Day, we have cause for pause and reflection in the wake of last month’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission report, which, for the first time, acknowledges that Aboriginal people in Canada have suffered cultural genocide. In the spirit of truth, reconciliation and social justice, the B.C. Green Party calls on all levels of government to implement the ninety-four recommendations from this report.

Pete Fry Launching Campaign for Vancouver–Mount Pleasant

Vancouver, B.C. – Media are invited to the campaign launch of Pete Fry as the candidate for the B.C. Green Party in the provincial riding of Vancouver–Mt. Pleasant. Fry is a long-time East End community activist and former candidate for Vancouver City Council.

Victoria, B.C. – The B.C. Green Party commends the final report from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which for the first time describes the residential school program as cultural genocide. Furthermore, the B.C. Green Party strongly calls on the provincial and federal governments to implement as quickly as possible the report’s ninety-four recommendations.
