VANCOUVER B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce the nomination of its candidate for Vancouver-Mount Pleasant, Jerry Kroll. Kroll is President and CEO of ElectraMeccanica Vehicles Corp, which will begin mass production of one-person electric commuter cars for delivery this year.
“I am thrilled to be part of Andrew Weaver's Green Party team to help the province of British Columbia lead Canada in creating a high-value and sustainable economy,” Kroll said. “The world is obviously nearing the end of the fossil fuel age, which represents a golden opportunity for our province and the people of Vancouver to position ourselves as leaders in the jobs, products and services that will be in demand for the next hundred or more years. I am ready to help Andrew Weaver make that happen!”
“The transition to a decarbonized economy is one of the greatest challenges – and opportunities – of our generation,” added Weaver. “I am excited by the innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership that Jerry brings as a candidate to this election. The development of the 21st century economy is a major priority for our election campaign, and I am thrilled that Jerry has stepped forward to champion it as a B.C. Green candidate.”
Kroll will formally announce his candidacy at an event at his campaign office this afternoon. Party leader Andrew Weaver and other Metro Vancouver candidates will be in attendance for his announcement.
