Jason Hanley nominated as B.C. Greens candidate in Port Coquitlam

March 10, 2017

PORT COQUITLAM B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce the nomination of its candidate for Port Coquitlam, Jason Hanley. Hanley completed his first commercial software project at the age of 15 and currently works with an ed-tech non-profit organization that focuses on delivering education to children in need using low-cost devices and crowdsourcing.

“With the traditional parties catering primarily to corporate and big business interests, I feel that the Green Party is uniquely positioned to bring politics back into the hands of regular people this election,” said Hanley. “Together with the many other strong Green candidates in the region, I plan to help bring true democracy back to the Tri-Cities and beyond.”

Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, welcomed Hanley’s nomination.

“Jason is a brilliant addition to the B.C. Greens team,” said Weaver. “His lifelong passion for technology and innovation, as well as his advocacy on clean energy, are the vital attributes the leaders of today should have. We need visionary thinkers like him to help B.C. succeed in our fast-changing world. I am absolutely delighted that he is running in Port Coquitlam for the B.C. Greens.”
