VICTORIA, B.C. — Leader of the B.C. Greens Andrew Weaver issued the following statement today in recognition of Ramadan:
“Today my colleagues and I would like to offer our best wishes to Muslims across B.C. and around the world as they observe the holy month of Ramadan.
“This month is one of reflection, prayer and self-sacrifice. Over a billion people take place in this extraordinary affirmation of faith each year, and it presents an opportunity celebrate the contributions of our Muslim family, friends, and neighbours.
“For the next month Muslims across the province will fast during the day and come together each evening to break their fast with those they hold dear. This pillar of Islam is a remarkable display of dedication, faith and love. From our hearts to yours, we hope that all those observing Ramadan have a peaceful month filled with reflection, meaning, and warmth.
“Eid Mubarak!”
