Andrew Weaver statement on Yom Kippur

September 18, 2018

VICTORIA, B.C. – Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Greens, issued the following statement today in recognition of Yom Kippur:

“Tonight at sunset Jewish communities around the world are gathering to observe the beginning of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. This day marks the holiest day in the Jewish calendar and is a time for reflection, prayer, and renewal.

“With the passage of Yom Kippur my colleagues and I are reflecting upon the essential contributions of the Jewish Canadian community to the fabric of British Columbia. We offer our best wishes to the Jewish community as families and loved ones are gathering to reflect, pray, and eventually to break fast together.

“From our hearts to yours, we hope that this time of introspection is filled with peace and that the coming year is one of health and happiness.

“G’mar Chatimah Tova.”
