VICTORIA, B.C. – In response to Finance Minister Carole James’ announcement that she has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, the B.C. Green Caucus released the following statement:
“Minister James embodies what it means to be a politician who goes to work every day focused on making the lives of people better. Anyone who works with her can see how deeply she cares about the people of our province,” said B.C. Green Party interim leader MLA Adam Olsen for Saanich-North and the Islands and a member of Tsartlip First Nation. “Even in coming forward with this diagnosis, Minister James’ focus has been on the wellbeing of others who face this disease.”
“I have had the privilege of working alongside Minister James over these past several years,” said B.C. Green MLA Sonia Furstenau for Cowichan Valley. “She’s served her community since 2005 and has been a key reason for the continued stability of this minority government, from her role at the table that first established the Confidence and Supply Agreement to being B.C.’s Finance Minister and Deputy Premier. This government owes much of what it has accomplished to the leadership of Minister James.
The B.C. Green Caucus extends its deepest appreciation for her ongoing commitment to our province and looks forward to continuing to work with Minister James through the remainder of her tenure as Minister and MLA. Our collective thoughts are with her and her family.
