I put my name forward as your B.C. Green Party candidate because I am concerned about the legacy we are leaving our children and grandchildren. I am concerned about our environmental legacy but I am also concerned about the many people being left behind in our society. I can remember a time not so long ago when there were no homeless camps. My parents could remember homeless camps in the 1930's but there was an excuse then. There is no excuse for our large and growing homeless population in such a wealthy province. But the homeless are only the most visible group being left behind in our society. Many people work very hard but don't earn enough to properly care for their families. Young people today, even after working hard to achieve a good education, are struggling and forced to hustle short term contracts with no benefits. As your B.C. Green candidate I will work for economic growth that respects the environment and leaves no one behind.

About Bill

Bill grew up in Vancouver and has lived in Langley since 1998. He has lived in the Lower Mainland all his life. After completing an economics degree at Simon Fraser University in 1975, he worked for 30 years at the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans. He started there as an economist; held a number of middle management positions; and for the last 12 years of his career, worked on treaty negotiations with First Nations. He was the Chief Fisheries Negotiator when he retired in 2004.

Since retiring, Bill has pursued a lifelong love of music as a member and Vice-President of the Langley Community Chorus. He then moved on to the Langley Concert Band, learning to play tuba and performing at many community events. He became involved with the B.C. Green Party in 2013, helping the Langley candidates in the election that year. In 2014 he became Research and Policy Chair for the party. He has led an energetic policy team co-ordinating the development of member driven policy and contributing to the party's platform for the 2017 election.
