Ian Soutar nominated as B.C. Greens candidate in Coquitlam-Burke Mountain

February 03, 2017

COQUITLAM B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce the nomination of its candidate for Coquitlam-Burke Mountain, Ian Soutar. Soutar is a youth advocate active in local organizations and chapters including Rotary International, Fair Vote Canada, the BC Health Coalition and Amnesty International.

“I am running for MLA in Coquitlam-Burke Mountain because youth issues must be addressed during this provincial election”, Soutar said. “All political issues are youth issues, but youth are rarely considered while campaigning. I'm running with the B.C. Greens because it is the only party that addresses my concerns for our future generations, and who I can rely on to make decisions based off enshrined values, who won't sway to corporate pressures. It's only with the B.C. Greens that I would have the autonomy to put my constituents first.”

“I am delighted to welcome Ian to our team of B.C. Green 2017 candidates”, added Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party. “Ian’s commitment to intergenerational equity, diversity and dialogue is inspiring. He is a real community leader who will put his constituents first.”
