Green Party announced today the candidacy of four distinguished leaders for the upcoming fall provincial election: Cammy Lockwood in Cowichan Valley, Dr. Devyani Singh in Vancouver- Point Grey, Pat McCutcheon in Surrey-Cloverdale, and Randy Sunderman in Kamloops Centre.

“I am thrilled to welcome Cammy, Devyani, Pat, and Randy to our distinguished slate of candidates for 2024," stated party leader Sonia Furstenau. "Their dedication to their communities and forward-thinking leadership qualities exemplify the kind of visionary candidates we proudly present."

Cammy Lockwood, owner, and operator of Lockwood Farms in Cobble Hill, B.C., is an involved member of the local, provincial, and national agriculture community. "Having grown up in the Cowichan Valley, choosing to develop a farm here has allowed me to bloom where I am planted. My roots here run deep." Lockwood shared. "My candidacy is driven by a commitment to the people of the Cowichan Valley and the need to protect agriculture in the face of climate change. I am dedicated to amplifying the voices of Cowichan Valley in the legislature, ensuring our unique needs and perspectives are addressed. It is an honour to serve my community in this way.”

Dr. Devyani Singh has a Ph.D. in Climate and Energy Policy and has spent the last 10 years working on climate policy issues across the world. "I am a proud resident of Vancouver - Point Grey, and I am dedicated to serving our community," said Dr. Devyani Singh. "As a climate scientist, I am deeply concerned about our future and recognize the urgent need for decisive action. The B.C. Greens stand unmatched in their commitment to a winning climate agenda compared to any other party in B.C. As an economist, I also appreciate the critical intersection between our planet's health and our economic future, emphasizing the necessity for a sustainable and resilient economy."

Pat McCutcheon is a retired small business owner and long-time Cloverdale resident. “Cloverdale is a wonderful community; however, during my time here I have witnessed the erosion of basic social services. We find ourselves in this position because successive governments over the past three decades have failed to deliver. I will advocate for a government that builds out progressive solutions ahead of the growth that Surrey and Cloverdale are experiencing,” said McCutcheon. “I am particularly driven by my commitment to climate action. The BC Greens stand alone in offering evidence-based responses to critical issues like climate change, healthcare, public education, housing affordability, and the rising cost of living."

Randy Sunderman is an experienced economic consultant who also has a degree in biology. Over the last 30 years, he has undertaken numerous projects in the Kamloops area and has also worked across Canada. His areas of expertise include economic development, business planning, socio-economic assessments for land use planning, and economic assessments for major projects. "I am honoured to represent a party that deeply values the balance between our environment, social welfare, economic integrity, and healthcare excellence," Sunderman stated, “With Kamloops poised for growth and diversification, now is the time for innovative, evidence-based approaches, and I look forward to working hard in a collaborative fashion to ensure these crucial initiatives succeed.”

With the introduction of Cammy Lockwood, Dr. Devyani Singh, Pat McCutcheon, and Randy Sunderman as candidates, the B.C. Green Party is poised to bring transformative change to Cowichan Valley, Vancouver-Point Grey, Surrey-Cloverdale, and Kamloops Centre. Each candidate brings a unique blend of local insight, dedicated advocacy, and strategic expertise that aligns with the B.C. Green Party's commitment to sustainable development and community-centered policies.
