VICTORIA B.C. – Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, released the following statement in recognition of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
“Today we solemnly remember the atrocities committed during the Holocaust and stand firm against the xenophobia and shameful attitudes that led to it,” said Weaver.
“We mourn the 6 million Jews and the many others who were enslaved, tortured and murdered simply because of their religious identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity or political views.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the anti-Semitism, racism and hate that led to this horrific violence and suffering, as well as all modern instances of xenophobia and hatred at home and around the world. We must remain vigilant in denouncing all forms of discrimination and recommit to fostering diversity, tolerance, education and inclusiveness in our society.
We remember.”
