Jasmindra is an Urban Planner committed to “creating space for people and place” that lead to diverse, inclusive, socially just, sustainable, vibrant and resilient communities.
Born on the unceded territories of the WSÁNEĆ peoples, Jasmindra is a Canadian proud of her Indian heritage. Her lived experiences – locally and globally – have provided her with a unique and strong understanding of a myriad of planning issues.
Public spaces are often missing the most important element: the public! If you look around in your own community, you will often see only a few folks milling about in these spaces. How do we create culturally relevant and culturally respectful public spaces where diverse community members see themselves, their history, values and visions represented in the art, architecture and nature?
This presentation focuses on the importance of community-based planning and participatory planning in order to weave the threads of community visioning into a diverse, inclusive and vibrant fabric of placemaking.

Protecting your health
BC Greens recognize that airborne illnesses and pollutants pose a significant health risk to everyone, especially the young, elderly, and immunocompromised, while caregivers, healthcare professionals, and support staff come into regular contact with vulnerable persons. When choosing venues, BC Greens prioritize outdoor spaces, and indoor spaces with good ventilation. In closed indoor spaces, we encourage attendees to wear well-fitting masks (N95, KN95, or KF94), especially during the respiratory-illness season.
Creating safe spaces
The BC Green Party is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination and harassment, where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, can contribute fully and have equal speaking opportunities. To support this commitment, all event attendees will be expected to follow the standards of our Safe Spaces Participant's Guide.
