Voices of Saanich - December

Voices of Saanich is please to begin its 2021-2022 series with a webinar featuring Dr. David Bird,
Dr. Bird has written and/or edited more than ten books, including several editions of Birds of Canada, Birds of Eastern Canada and Birds of Western Canada, Pocket Birds of Canada, and Oiseaux du Quebec et du Canada. He is currently heading a national team to establish the Canada Jay as Canada’s national bird.

The Webinar is free to attend but in lieu of a speaker's fee, Dr. Bird would like attendees to donate to Rocky Point Bird Observatory. The Observatory, a member of the Canadian Migration Monitoring Network (CMMN), tracks the migration of Canada's birds in the spring and fall each year, adding to our knowledge of population trends, demographics, phenology, and other essential information about the species that pass through Vancouver Island. This information is used by governments, environmental organizations, scientists and others to direct our collective actions and improve our ability to conserve Canada's birds.
Once you register for this event you'll get a confirmation email with a link that will provide you with the logon information for the event.

Protecting your health

BC Greens recognize that airborne illnesses and pollutants pose a significant health risk to everyone, especially the young, elderly, and immunocompromised, while caregivers, healthcare professionals, and support staff come into regular contact with vulnerable persons. When choosing venues, BC Greens prioritize outdoor spaces, and indoor spaces with good ventilation. In closed indoor spaces, we encourage attendees to wear well-fitting masks (N95, KN95, or KF94), especially during the respiratory-illness season.

Creating safe spaces

The BC Green Party is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination and harassment, where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, can contribute fully and have equal speaking opportunities. To support this commitment, all event attendees will be expected to follow the standards of our Safe Spaces Participant's Guide.
