Valentine Wu is an information technology (IT) professional. He works as IT consultant to provide technical solutions, analyze requirements, design, and develop software applications. He also helps maintain and improve current computer systems.
Born in China and moved to Burnaby in 2001 as international student, Wu got his Master's degree in Computing Science from Simon Fraser University with fully funded fellowships and scholarships. In his Master study, Wu published several academic research papers (being the sole author of the first paper published at IEEE international conference). After that, he received a fully funded scholarship to pursue his PhD in the United States. Instead, he chose to immigrate to Canada and has his family settled down at Burnaby. Currently he resides in Metrotown with his wife and two children.
Wu has a passion for social issues, for example, expressing opinions on Kinder Morgan's Trans Mountain Expansion Project as speaker guest at a TV talk show. He has volunteered in several different organizations, assisting new immigrants to jumpstart their career through S.U.C.C.E.S.S. (www.successbc.ca) and representing the interests of Burnaby parents in the public education system as Burnaby DPAC representative.
