This week in Question Period – Wild salmon

This week, the MLAs focused their questions for the government on the fate of wild salmon in our province. Farmed salmon and other fish on several migratory routes have put wild salmon populations at significant risk, including near-extinction in some cases.

Keep up the good work all of you so refreshing to have someone with knowledge that Wild Salmon are sacred. Yes indeed a Secretariat is badly needed what a good idea….Below is the letter I sent to John Horgan.
PLEASE do not let MARINE HARVEST restock the farm in the BROUGHTON ARCHIPELIGO. It looks like they are getting ready to do so from the hatchery in KELSEY BAY. These FISH are likely infected with Piscine reovirus and DFO remains in open defiance of federal law and a federal court order by allowing them to be placed in the ocean. This is just plain wrong – and ILLEGAL.…/DFO-Gut-Rules-Protecting-Wild-Salmon/
We need the government to make the decision to not renew the permits for the farms in the Broughton Archipelago. The blood water pipes from the Atlantic Salmon processing plants need to be shut off till a new solution is devised for not polluting the ocean.

A Wild Salmon Secretariat is a good idea. I have sent a comprehensive program for BC and DFO to bring back wild salmon to you. If you need another copy, let me know. I have written on fisheries policy for 25 years, hence it is an informed plan.

It’s the proverbial Nero fiddled while Rome burned. Criminal. The clock is ticking and our beloved salmon are in a state of imminent destruction.
