VICTORIA, B.C. – Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Greens, issued the following statement today in recognition of Labour Day:

“On Labour Day we recognize the achievements of Canadian workers and the right of all British Columbians to safe and equitable employment.

VICTORIA B.C. – B.C. Green Party MLAs Andrew Weaver, Sonia Furstenau and Adam Olsen are embarking on a province-wide tour to engage with British Columbians about the issues affecting them and their communities. The purpose of the Forums is to review the work done in the first year since the MLAs signed a Confidence and Supply Agreement to support the B.C. NDP minority government, and to gather input for the MLA’s work in the upcoming Fall legislative sitting.

“This year marks the first National Indigenous Peoples Day by this name, and it was designated by the Government of Canada, together with Indigenous organizations, to recognize and celebrate Indigenous Peoples.

VICTORIA, B.C. – Sonia Furstenau, B.C. Green MLA for Cowichan Valley, issued the following statement today in recognition of World Refugee Day:

“In the words of the United Nations, World Refugee Day is intended to commemorate the strength, courage, and perseverance of refugees all over the world. This recognition is especially poignant today: there are currently more displaced people than at any other point in history, numbering over 68 million individuals. These people, many of them children, are fleeing violence, climate change, poverty and other unimaginable horrors.
