Human Rights Code. Four openly transgender candidates from the three major political parties ran in the May election. The first known transgender Canadian mayor was just elected in Quebec. But sadly, these achievements have come all too slowly for those who have experienced discrimination, transphobia, and violence.

Adam Olsen responds to Salt Spring Island’s decision to not incorporate
SIDNEY, B.C. - Adam Olsen, MLA for Saanich North and the Islands, issued the following statement in regards to the outcome of Salt Spring’s Incorporation Vote. Salt Spring Island voted against incorporating as an island municipality this past weekend.
"Over the past couple of years Salt Spring Islanders have been discussing how their community is governed. It has been an emotional and divisive process which resulted in a vote against incorporation this weekend," Olsen said.
