Bill 23: An Act of Desperation
Last week I wrote about the very serious concerns I had with Bill 23, The Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act. Today I spoke against the Bill at second reading. Included within the bill are three profoundly troubling sections and below I outline my objections to these in greater detail.
Bill 12 is Bad for British Columbians
Bill 12, The Federal Port Development Act, passed second reading on Tuesday March 3, despite my objections and the objections of Vicki Huntington, MLA Delta South.
On its own, Bill 12 is not inherently problematic. However, Bill 12 cannot be taken in isolation. It must be considered in conjunction with the recent passing of the federal omnibus Bill C-43. Buried within this more than 475 page bill was Division 16, Canada Marine Act.

Over the course of the last two days, MLAs have been debating the Speech from the Throne. LNG emissions bill is a shameful betrayal of future generations
This House sitting should be noted as the B.C. Liberals showed their true colors. It was a memorable week when the B.C. Liberals took a page from the Harper Tories' playbook and destroyed a legacy of climate leadership in British Columbia.

This week was a clear reminder of why I decided to run for office.
Back in 2008, I had the honour of working with then Premier Gordon Campbell, his Minister of Environment, the Honourable Barry Penner and the Climate Action Team to outline clear, bold and practical steps that we as a province could take to address global warming.
