Sonia Furstenau, Adam Olsen re-elected; recount required for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky

November 07, 2020

VICTORIA B.C. – Following the count of remaining ballots, Elections B.C. announced today that B.C. Green Leader Sonia Furstenau has been re-elected as MLA for Cowichan Valley and Adam Olsen has been re-elected as MLA for Saanich North and the Islands. In the riding of West Vancouver-Sea to Sky, where B.C. Green candidate Jeremy Valeriote was projected to win, the results will automatically go to a judicial recount. Valeriote is 41 votes behind incumbent Jordan Sturdy of the B.C. Liberals.

“I am incredibly grateful that my constituents have seen the value B.C. Greens bring to the legislature,” said Furstenau. “I can’t wait for us to get back to work for our communities and continue to hold the government to the highest standards for British Columbians.

“We will wait for the official recount to determine the result for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky. Jeremy Valeriote is an excellent candidate and the close results in his riding show that the people of West Vancouver-Sea to Sky are hoping for a more sustainable and equitable future for their community. Every election, more and more voters have chosen to vote Green – that is cause for celebration and we will continue to work with the community to come out strong next time.”
