Premier Eby: Save Fairy Creek once and for all

The BC NDP has kicked the can down the road again by choosing to extend Fairy Creek's logging deferral, rather than implement a real old-growth protection plan.

Once the deferral expires, Fairy Creek will be open for logging again.

Premier David Eby promised to accelerate action on old growth, but most of BC's most at-risk old growth forests are still at risk of being clearcut.

We are calling on Eby to take real, concrete action to save old growth, including Fairy Creek, and to support a sustainable economic transition for First Nations communities that currently rely on old-growth logging.

Stand with us to tell Eby to save Fairy Creek and all our ancient forests once and for all.

In 2020, the BC NDP promised to implement all 14 recommendations from the Old Growth Strategic Review.

The 2020 recommendations were tied to a three-year framework with the goal to have all implemented by 2023, but most at-risk old-growth forests are still being clearcut in BC.

Sign the BC Greens petition to tell Premier Eby to:

  • Implement emergency logging bans in all remaining high-risk old-growth ecosystems, starting with Fairy Creek – no more logging in and around the watershed!
  • Urgently implement the Old Growth Strategic Review Panel’s recommendations
  • Prioritize working with First Nations and aligning all forest management with the principles of free, prior and informed consent
  • Provide provincial funding for conservation financing
