Roy Sakata

Roy has a University of B.C. Bachelor of Education Degree and a Simon Fraser University Masters Degree. He received B.C. Education Minister Tony Brumett's recognition for Administrative Excellence in 1989. In 1990 he received recognition from the Premier of B.C. for B.C. Elementary School Earthquake Preparedness Program.

Public services volunteering has been an important part of Roy's professional and community life. He was involved as Director with the Scotch Pond Fisherman's Society and Richmond City Parks Department staff and Richmond City Council in achieving B.C. Heritage status for Richmond City's Scotch Pond Fishermen's Dock and Facilities in 1989. He has also served as Charter member of Richmond City's Britannia Hertage Shipyard Society, was placed on British Columbia Who's Who Directory, 1992-1995 edition, and in 1997 Roy was named a Paul Harris Fellow by The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. (Rotary Club of Ladner Nominee).

Roy is prepared to continue to serve as a results oriented Richmond City public servant. He will work tirelessly to achieve goals that address the needs of the Richmond-Steveston electoral district citizens, businesses and non-profit organizations.
