Robert Stupka named B.C. Green Party candidate for Kelowna West by-election

December 04, 2017

KELOWNA B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce that its candidate for the Kelowna West by-election is Robert Stupka. Stupka is a professional engineer, Certified Passive House Designer and business partner at Nido Design Inc.

“The Kelowna West riding is one of Canada’s fastest growing regions with some of the best economic performance,” Stupka said. “The exceptional quality of life attracted me to live here. The potential of the region has led me to build my family and home here and has inspired me to make a positive contribution to its future.

“In the face of growing challenges like congestion, high housing costs, and an opioid epidemic, maintaining what we value requires listening to community needs, pragmatic solutions, and a provincial representative that can enable supportive action. I want to find solutions to these challenges and I have what it takes to listen and to act.

“The Green Party has proven to be incredibly effective in holding government to account and implementing policy objectives well beyond their bench weight. They have elevated debate with evidence, not politics. They are the only party that can be trusted to bring back economic, social and environmental balance to BC. That’s what motivated me to run as the B.C. Green candidate in the Kelowna West by-election.”

“It is with great pleasure that I welcome Robert to our team,” added Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party. “Robert is an exceptional candidate who is driven by a vision of sustainability and leadership. He is keen to share his passion for building the economy of the 21st century and strong evidence-based policy for British Columbia. As a professional engineer, he is keenly aware of how new technologies and a creative and innovative approach to policy development can turn the most daunting challenges into our greatest opportunities. I am honoured that he has chosen to serve as our candidate in the Kelowna West by-election; I know he will make Kelowna West so very proud to have him as their MLA.”
