Rick McGowan nominated as B.C. Greens candidate in Burnaby-Deer Lake

November 22, 2016

BURNABY B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce the nomination of its candidate for Burnaby-Deer Lake, Rick McGowan. McGowan is a teacher and founder of the Metrotown Residents’ Association.

“I am excited to run for the B.C. Greens”, McGowan said. “Voters deserve a representative that will listen to them and act on their behalf. We need to develop and diversify our local economy, protect our environment and create a sustainable future. I feel that Andrew Weaver, leader of the BC Green Party, is the most intelligent, pragmatic and trustworthy leader British Columbians have seen in awhile. British Columbians finally have a credible alternative party they can vote for, rather than two parties they vote against - a truly democratic party.”

“Rick has been instrumental in moving issues forward for his community, particularly regarding housing and demovictions”, added Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party. “I am thrilled that he is running with the B.C. Green Party to bring these issues directly to the legislature as the MLA for Burnaby-Deer Lake.”
