March 09, 2017

KELOWNA B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce the nomination of its candidate for Kelowna-Mission, Rainer Wilkins. Wilkins is a Certified Sommelier, seasoned wine sales professional, and has been the Vice-President of the Kelowna Arts Council for the past 5 years.

“I am honoured to be the B.C. Green Party candidate for Kelowna-Mission,” said Wilkins. “I am certain that the B.C. Green Party platform offers the best policies for all British Columbians. I chose to be a candidate because I believe that we must act to ensure there is a positive standard of living for all British Columbians and a strong economy that relies less on fossil fuels. Furthermore, our health and well-being should be a focus for any government and that the preventative and integrated approach of the B.C. Green Party will benefit everyone.”

Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, welcomed Wilkins’ nomination.

“I’m so pleased that Rainer will be running for the B.C. Greens in Kelowna-Mission,” said Weaver. “As a wine expert, he is intimately familiar with one of the fastest-growing agricultural industries in the region and recognizes this tremendous opportunity for sustainable enterprise. His engagement with the arts also demonstrates his passion for community. He would be a fantastic representative for the constituents of Kelowna-Mission in Victoria.”
