Nicola Spurling

For Regional Rep: Lower Mainland

As per the BC Green Party’s bylaws, only members who live in the Lower Mainland region may vote for the Regional Councillor-at-Large - Lower Mainland. To learn more about this region, please click here.

Nicola is the incumbent for this role and was elected during the 2019 AGM internal party elections.

I have served as a member of the BC Green Party's Provincial Council since 2017. I have run as a candidate for the party on two occasions, and my participation with the party has significantly increased the discourse around social justice issues, particularly trans rights. I was recently involved in a push to develop a Diversity & Equity Committee, in conjunction with other PC members and Green Party staff, and I look forward to continuing that work if elected.

About Nicola

Nicola Spurling is a Social Justice Advocate (that's even her official title, in her position with The Flag Shop). She also works with T'eVine, a trans advocacy organization that focuses on attaining better medical coverage for trans people. She has a background in construction and has operated her own construction company for more than a decade. She also has many years of experience working in retail and in other underpaid positions. This vast array of experience has built the foundation from which Nicola pushes for societal equity, such as strengthening human rights, providing affordable housing, uplifting marginalized people, focusing on reconciliation, implementing UBI and livable wages for all, and, of course, climate action, among many other important causes.
