Nick has lived on/near Vancouver Island his whole life – ranging from Pacheedaht lands (Port Renfrew) to Tsawout/Tseycum lands (Pender Islands), he currently lives with his wife in East Sooke (T’So-uke lands). Professionally, he is an open-source web developer deeply involved in his chosen field including regular conference organizing and presentations. Nick is Development Manager with an agency based in Washington DC and predominantly works with non-profit and governmental clients (was recently excited to work on a project for the Environmental Defense Fund).
Politically, Nick has been long involved with Green movements – first GPC membership at 15. Recent provincial experience ranges from Volunteer Co-ordinator for Gord Baird’s 2020 campaign (Langford Juan de Fuca) to being founding member/Data Privacy Officer of the new Langford – Juan de Fuca Riding association (ongoing). Also involved in GPC activities both electorally and currently the Financial Agent for the Esquimalt – Saanich – Sooke EDA.
Nick has been involved with environmental issues since early childhood, including speaking at the UNEP International Children’s Conference on the Environment and being on YRTE (Youth Round Table on the Environment). More recently predominantly protesting old-growth logging and virtual activism (COVID sure does make virtual activism appealing).
Nick is an avid cyclist – including delivering election signs by bike – any electoral/political activity he does alone he bikes too. When not being political, Nick is often outdoors, loves biking everywhere, gardening, hiking and swimming. Nick is also a Karate black belt and sensei.
