Nanaimo Pride Parade

Join us in the annual Nanaimo Pride Parade!

This is our first event as your recently elected a new executive to the BC Greens Nanaimo and Nanaimo North Cowichan Riding Association Executive.

Why this event? Pride celebrations provide an opportunity for our 2SLGBTQ+ family and allies to peacefully assemble, reconnect, and celebrate diversity and hard-won rights. Events like this parade are all about recognizing 2SLGBTQ+ people's contributions to a beautiful society. We sadly acknowledge that pride youth and adults experience higher rates of anxiety, depression, homelessness, discrimination, and violence. Throughout history, with the rise of authoritarianism, 2SLGBTQ+ people, a peaceful community, have been targeted with acts of violence. We are all connected, and violence toward any group in society affects us all. Together we can craft a new narrative, one that is based on peace, love, respect, and compassion.

We invite you to walk with us in solidarity with our 2SLGBTQ+ family this Sunday.

Protecting your health

BC Greens recognize that airborne illnesses and pollutants pose a significant health risk to everyone, especially the young, elderly, and immunocompromised, while caregivers, healthcare professionals, and support staff come into regular contact with vulnerable persons. When choosing venues, BC Greens prioritize outdoor spaces, and indoor spaces with good ventilation. In closed indoor spaces, we encourage attendees to wear well-fitting masks (N95, KN95, or KF94), especially during the respiratory-illness season.

Creating safe spaces

The BC Green Party is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination and harassment, where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, can contribute fully and have equal speaking opportunities. To support this commitment, all event attendees will be expected to follow the standards of our Safe Spaces Participant's Guide.
