The Nanaimo North Cowichan Riding Association (NCW) cordially invites all local BC Green members and other interested citizens to attend our Annual General Meeting!

This will be an informal and inclusive community event. Are you curious about what BC Greens stand for? Would you like to volunteer with the NCW riding and help with events and fundraisers? if so, please attend at the Frank Jameson Centre (Lower Program Room) in Ladysmith on Feb 23rd or contact us at [email protected] for more information about the event.

We are looking for new members to join our executive committee during this exciting time! We are looking for new ideas on how to broaden support and we would like to explore new ways of engaging with community members, while we are getting ourselves election-ready. We meet monthly and share responsibilities.

We are excited to announce that Guy Dauncey will be joining us as the guest speaker for our event. He will be speaking on his economic papers entitled Climate Emergency: A 26-Week Transition Program for Canada where he goes over "What could the government of Canada do if its Ministers, MPs and civil servants knew that there was very strong public support to address the real severity of the climate emergency, and the urgency of the need? "

This paper shows how we could target a 65% reduction in emissions by 2030 and 100% by 2040. It proposes 164 new policies and programs, financed by $63 billion a year in new investments, without raising taxes or increasing public sector borrowing.

For more information on the different roles on the executive, check out the new RA Agreement here!

We encourage you to ensure your membership with the BC Greens is current so you can vote at the upcoming AGM. Memberships do not expire if you make a monthly contribution.

Protecting your health

BC Greens recognize that airborne illnesses and pollutants pose a significant health risk to everyone, especially the young, elderly, and immunocompromised, while caregivers, healthcare professionals, and support staff come into regular contact with vulnerable persons. When choosing venues, BC Greens prioritize outdoor spaces, and indoor spaces with good ventilation. In closed indoor spaces, we encourage attendees to wear well-fitting masks (N95, KN95, or KF94), especially during the respiratory-illness season.

Creating safe spaces

The BC Green Party is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination and harassment, where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, can contribute fully and have equal speaking opportunities. To support this commitment, all event attendees will be expected to follow the standards of our Safe Spaces Participant's Guide.
