VICTORIA, B.C. and OTTAWA, ON - The announcement of a national price on carbon is a welcome start says Andrew Weaver, MLA for Oak Bay-Gordon Head and Leader of the B.C. Green Party.

VICTORIA B.C. – Today during his address to delegates of the Union of B.C. Municipalities (UBCM) 2016 convention, Andrew Weaver, MLA for Oak Bay-Gordon Head and leader of the B.C. Green Party, announced that the B.C. Green Party will institute a ban on donations of any kind from corporations and unions. The party’s new political finance policy will take effect immediately. It was passed unanimously by Provincial Council, the member-elected governing body of the B.C. Green Party.

Victoria, B.C. - While a freeze in Medical Services Plan (MSP) premium increases is certainly welcome, the government has lost the opportunity to fully reform this regressive tax says Andrew Weaver, MLA for Oak Bay - Gordon Head and Leader of the B.C. Green Party.

Victoria B.C. - “I welcome the Grizzly Bear Foundation’s inquiry into the status and future of grizzly bears in British Columbia and am supportive of the critical lens through which they are looking at this complex issue,” says Andrew Weaver, the MLA for Oak Bay - Gordon Head and Leader of the B.C. Green Party. 

“The passage of a policy endorsing Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) at the Green Party of Canada convention in Ottawa this past weekend represents a significant step away from the values that define the BC Green Party.

“This is not a policy that I nor the B.C. Green Party support. I think the Green Party of Canada needs to take a careful look at their policy process and ask themselves how a policy that goes against Green Party values could have been allowed on the floor of a convention.
