Dr. Lisa Gunderson (she | her) is Deputy Leader of the Green Party of BC and running to be the next Member of British Columbia's Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Oak Bay-Gordon Head. Oak Bay-Gordon Head is located on the territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən speaking people known today as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, and the SENĆOŦEN speaking people, whose historic connections to these lands continue to this day.
You may know her as Dr. Lisa or Dr. G - as she is more familiarly known throughout different communities. Dr. Lisa resides in the vibrant town of Saanich, BC, where she shares a gratifying life with her two sons and her partner, whom she has been with for an incredible 26 years. As a first-generation African-American and Canadian immigrant with Jamaican heritage, Lisa brings a unique perspective to her many roles she has taken on.
Dr. Lisa, who has a history of being a successful change-maker in a variety of settings, firmly believes that we are at a pivotal moment for British Columbia and its future. In order to achieve success, she emphasizes the need for an MLA that can truly listen, collaborate effectively, and implement action that makes a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. With her extensive experience and unwavering commitment to Green values, Dr. Lisa is the ideal candidate to lead us forward.
For decades, Dr. Lisa has been tirelessly working to promote democratic principles. Like many British Columbians, she is a small business owner. She established One Love Consulting, a venture dedicated to fostering a more equitable and just society. Lisa's diverse skill set as a psychologist, clinician, community leader, businesswoman, and educator positions her perfectly to address the challenges we face today.
Dr. Lisa's involvement in the Green movement runs deep. She has contributed as an equity consultant, pundit, spokesperson for proportional representation, campaign volunteer, OBGH riding association member, panelist, and member of the diversity/equity committee. Moreover, she has consulted with various ministries and served on various local and national boards and advisory committees, making her a respected and influential figure within our party and the greater community.
Drawing strength from her own history and the experiences of her ancestors, Dr. Lisa radiates hope and momentum for positive change. Her vision is to create an environment where each of us can bring our full selves to the table. By emphasizing what brings us together, we can foster collaboration and unity and engage in actionable change. By doing so, we can provide the residents of Oak Bay-Gordon Head with a genuine alternative to traditional politics - a politics that is transformative from the inside-out.
