Statement on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
Today we join the international community in calling for an end to violence against women. In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly designated November 25th as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Violence against women is a violation of human rights and a consequence of ongoing gender inequalities.

Dear Premier Christy Clark,
I would like to congratulate you on the investments in the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) in Budget 2013. The multi-million dollar investment was unique. While other ministries and agencies had their funding untouched or reduced, your
commitment to implementing the recommendations of the ALC’s 2010 core review is an important investment in British Columbia.
Following the election this spring the minister of the core review, Hon. Bill Bennett’s comments raised considerable concerns when he suggested to a reporter, that despite the work that had been done, the core review would include the ALC.
BC Green Party writes an open letter to Premier Christy Clark on the Agricultural Land Commission
Victoria, BC - BC Green Party Interim-Leader, Adam Olsen sent an open letter to Premier Christy Clark today requesting the British Columbia government remove the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) from the current core review and reaffirm
its support the modernization of the Commission that has been on-going for the past three years.
Remembrance Day Statement from the BC Green Party
On November 11, Canadians stop to remember, honor, and reflect.
We remember all those who gave their lives willingly to defend the many freedoms that our nation enjoys. We also remember with sorrow the fallen of other nations, even those who fought against us. War has taken so much from so many – as individuals, families, communities, and all mankind.
Potential changes to ALC very concerning
Mark Hume’s article published in the Globe and Mail (Nov. 7, 2013) highlighting the potential ‘modernization’ of the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) is very disturbing.
I am extremely concerned about the potential changes that Mr. Hume outlined in his article. They constitute a fundamental change in direction for the government and the commission.
