Kevin is currently working as an Assistant Grower in a Native Plant Nursery in Aldergrove. In this role he is pursuing a combined passion for agriculture and resource management. As an aspiring professional (Articling Agrologist) Kevin has had experience both within the Public Sector as an Invasive Species Technician and Range Agrologist in Kamloops, as well as the Private sector in retail and wholesale nurseries. This experience, along with other jobs, has provided understanding of several sectors through learning-by-doing. Kevin is engaged as a Council Member in the BC Institute of Agrologists, the governing body of the profession.
Kevin attended Quest University Canada in the inaugural class, completing a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 2011. At university Kevin assisted in writing the student government constitution, served as Vice President, participated on several committees representing the student body to the Board and Administration and was honoured to be nominated Graduate Speaker. Following Quest, Kevin studied Applied Biology in Plant and Soil Sciences at UBC and volunteered at the "Orchard Garden" student vegetable garden.
Kevin's experience living abroad in France, Peru, Morocco, and Japan has given him a broad perspective of how diverse cultures approach the roles of government, public services, and private businesses. Kevin pursues new ideas and has first-hand experience with systems which work better or worse than our own. As the son of both a civil servant and a private contractor, Kevin appreciates the importance of standards that protect the public and drive improvement without impeding hard-working British Columbians from providing for their families.
