March 15, 2017

NANAIMO B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce the nomination of its candidate for Nanaimo, Kathleen Harris. Harris is a Registered Nurse and an instructor at the University of Victoria, where she teaches about health and wellness promotions, the cost effectiveness of preventative health and sustainable community development.

“I am thrilled to run as your B.C. Green Party candidate for the May 2017 election,” said Harris. “I want to get to know you and what is important to you in this election. I do not want to just tell you that I will do great things as your MLA, I intend to prove it. I have 30 years of professional experience being devoted to helping the people of B.C. as a Registered Nurse and 12 years sharing that knowledge with post-secondary students. I am looking forward to showing the people of Nanaimo how much I care about you and this beautiful place.”

Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, welcomed Harris’ nomination from Victoria.

“Kathleen is on the front lines of our healthcare system, both as a nurse and a teacher preparing the next generation of healthcare workers,” Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, added. “Her focus on preventative healthcare and sustainable community development demonstrate her strong vision for B.C.’s long-term future. With her deep roots in Nanaimo, she is incredibly passionate about her city and our province. She will be a fantastic representative for the people of her community in the Legislature.”
