SURREY B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce the nomination of its candidate for Surrey-Guildford, Jodi Murphy. For the last decade, Murphy worked at a locally-owned company that provides specialized technical services to the pulp and paper industry. Her work included visiting mills across B.C. and managing multiple lab departments and staff.
“The B.C. Green Party is a clear choice for me,” said Murphy. “We are facing many important issues that will require innovation and cooperation, but the age-old parties spend too much time posturing and arguing from their same old positions. It shouldn't take a crisis to get the government's attention yet time after time we've seen unresponsiveness until situations become dire. The B.C. Green Party offers a new perspective and approach, sensible policies built from the best ideas of today. It's time to turn the page to a brighter and safer future and only the B.C. Greens are offering this vision.”
Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, welcomed Murphy’s nomination.
“We are very fortunate to be welcoming Jodi to our team,” said Weaver. “From her extensive work in the pulp and paper industry, she understands the vital importance of ensuring sustainable resource production in British Columbia and throughout the world. Her enthusiasm for political engagement is inspiring. She would be a most excellent representative for the people of Surrey-Guilford.”
