The BC Green Party is seeking an experienced development professional with enthusiasm for connecting donors with their passions.

The successful candidate will be a good listener, a polite communicator, and a team player who understands best practices and knows what it takes to raise record-breaking funds in an election year.

As a team member who motivates and communicates with British Columbians on the Party’s behalf, this person will share the values and principles of the Party.

The Development Officer will be responsible for planning and implementing various components of the BC Green Party’s fundraising and development plans for the 2017 provincial election.

Duties

  • Play an important role in quarterly planning for the Party’s small, medium, and large gift portfolios

  • Implement quarterly plans for select donor groups

  • Prepare copy for web, email, direct mail, and/or phone campaigns

  • Provide support and guidance for the development teams of select local campaigns

  • Supervise, train and mentor junior volunteers on the development team

  • Secure small, medium, and large gifts

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field

  • A minimum of three to five years experience in fundraising and development

  • Proven track record in closing major gifts and managing donor caseloads

  • Strong written and oral communication

  • Commitment to excellence in customer/member/constituent service, with a proven record of going the extra mile for supporters, constituents or complete strangers

  • Excellent knowledge of fundraising campaigns, trends, techniques and strategic communication practices

  • Enthusiasm for working directly with donors and developing strong, long-term relationships and engagement on behalf of the organization

  • Ability to learn new software systems quickly

  • Functional knowledge of Google Apps, especially Gmail and Drive

  • Knowledge of the BC Green Party’s core principles

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience in political fundraising and development

  • Membership with CAGP and/or AFP and/or CFRE or APR designation

  • Previous experience with NationBuilder, or another contact management system

  • Knowledge/training in building effective digital engagement campaigns to identify and onboard new supporters, including social media advertising

  • Successful completion of a Criminal Records Check is required

Pay is commensurate with experience; flexible work schedule. The position is in Victoria, BC.
