VANCOUVER B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce the nomination of its candidate for Vancouver-Langara, Janet Fraser. Fraser is a chemist and former Green trustee for the Vancouver School Board.
“I would love to serve my community as the next MLA in my home riding of Vancouver-Langara and champion public education, good governance, meaningful climate leadership and an inclusive 21st-century green economy”, Fraser said. “Why am I running with the BC Green Party? My values closely align with the Green principles of sustainability, social justice, participatory democracy, respect for diversity, non-violence and ecological wisdom. As a BC Green, I look forward to building our representation in the legislature to advance working collaboratively for a better BC.”
“The foundation of a thriving democracy is a strong, vibrant and adequately-resourced public education system”, added Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party. “Janet has consistently demonstrated her commitment to delivering this vision to British Columbia. I am thrilled she is seeking a mandate from the voters of Vancouver-Langara to be their B.C. Green MLA and I look forward to working with her in the legislature.”
