VICTORIA B.C. – Sonia Furstenau, leader of the B.C. Green Party, released the following statement on the election of Kevin Falcon as the new leader of the B.C. Liberal Party:
“I would like to extend my congratulations to Kevin Falcon on his election as B.C. Liberal leader.
“I am looking forward to continuing work with the Official Opposition to hold the government to account when the legislature resumes on Tuesday. While Mr. Falcon doesn’t have a seat in the legislature, I hope to speak with him soon.
“I know there are many areas of common ground from which we can work together. In particular, I hope to work with the Official Opposition to restart regular and consistent use of legislative committees, as well as continuing to support small businesses and organizations who are unprepared for the groundwater licensing deadline.
“I would also like to congratulate the other leadership candidates on their campaigns. I look forward to seeing many of you back in the legislature on Tuesday.
“Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to former interim B.C. Liberal leader Shirley Bond for her work and the opportunity to collaborate across party lines when we could.”
