Furstenau: Collaboration needed to tackle the issues facing B.C.

October 03, 2022

VICTORIA, B.C. – B.C. Green leader Sonia Furstenau, MLA for Cowichan Valley has issued the following statement on the fall session:

“With the number of overlapping crises facing British Columbians, this session we’d like to see more collaboration between all parties on the issues that continue to have an enormous impact on British Columbians. The cost of living keeps going up, our healthcare system is collapsing, the toxic drug crisis continues to take lives every day, and climate change is disrupting communities everywhere in B.C. We need leadership that acknowledges this reality and responds with a sense of urgency.

“All of us are feeling the burden of these overlapping crises in our communities and we need to work across party lines to bring different perspectives and find solutions. It is encouraging that all three party Leaders spoke at UBCM about the importance of collaboration. We are in unprecedented times, and this requires an unprecedented level of cooperation in our legislature.

“We will continue to push for solutions to address the cost of living, the family doctor shortage, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the housing crisis, environmental issues, while holding government accountable to the people of B.C. The Green Caucus will put forward important calls to help deliver a better future for British Columbians, and we hope to work with the government to move forward with the urgent solutions people need.”
