URGENT: Support community funding on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast

The BC NDP government is refusing to provide reliable, sustainable funding for the Island Coastal Economic Trust (ICET).

ICET needs this funding to help our communities build and upgrade tourism infrastructure, parks, trails, docks, and even arts & culture facilities — among other business development projects.

Without reliable, sustainable funding soon, ICET will be forced to shut down— leaving communities to fend for themselves.

The government is already supporting similar funds in other regions.

Add your name to tell Premier Eby and the BC NDP government that this work is a priority on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast too!

The Island Coastal Economic Fund (ICET) serves 500,000 British Columbian and Indigenous residents. It works with more than 100 First Nations governments, local governments and rural unincorporated communities across Vancouver Island, the southern Great Bear Rainforest, the Sunshine Coast, and islands and inlets from the Salish Sea to Cape Caution.

First started in 2006, ICET has made a huge impact on the region. Almost five dollars is invested in the region for every dollar in ICET funding. Almost 3,000 long-term jobs have been created.

It’s working. Let’s keep it going. Small towns and rural communities in the Island Coastal region matter.

Tell Premier Eby and the BC NDP Government to provide sustainable, long term funding to ICET now. The clock is ticking.
