Food and farming in the new economy

Everybody needs to eat, but few people understand the systems in play to fill their plates. Agriculture and food are at the epicentre of some of the most important issues of our time: public health, environmental responsibility, social justice and economic growth. This interactive full-day session will explore the complex ecosystem of agriculture, looking through social, political, environmental, economic and emotional lenses. 

In this course, you will learn about:
  • The latest in food systems thinking and initiatives in BC
  • Challenges and opportunities for agriculture and agri-foods in BC
  • Risks and benefits of different production systems
  • Agriculture policy considerations in a multi-jurisdictional environment
