Tell Premier Clark to reject the Enbridge Northern Gateway Project
Full text
Whereas the people of British Columbia have overwhelmingly voiced their opposition to the Northern Gateway Pipeline before, during and after the former Joint Review Panel (JRP) Hearing Process;
and Whereas the Government of British Columbia’s final argument to the JRP found significant gaps in Enbridge’s application, ultimately leaving the Government of British Columbia unable to support the project at this time;
and Whereas there is little to no capacity at either the Federal or Provincial levels to deal with a spill of the heavy-oil, diluted bitumen;
and Whereas there has been little government to government consultation with First Nation’s governments in British Columbia;
Therefore, be it resolved that the British Columbia government definitively state their opposition to the Northern Gateway project;
And be it resolved that the Government of British Columbia work to eliminate the shipping of heavy oil (diluted bitumen) in our coastal waters.
