VICTORIA B.C. – Canadian icon, broadcaster and scientist David Suzuki announced today that he is endorsing the B.C. Green Party for the upcoming provincial election.
“Today, I am officially endorsing Andrew Weaver and the B.C. Green Party for the May 9 provincial election,” Suzuki said. “I have never endorsed a political party before and I never expected to. But the need for real change in B.C. is so great, I have decided I must do everything I can to help elect the party that represents the right kind of change. Only the B.C. Green Party is speaking to the greatest issues of our time with solutions that are practical and evidence-based. Andrew Weaver is taking today’s challenges and turning them into tomorrow’s opportunities in the emerging economy. That is what we need in a premier.
“The economy and environment are inextricably linked, and only the B.C. Green Party has taken that seriously. Their platform is a real vision for the health and wellbeing of British Columbians, from education to housing affordability to the environment. I am pleased to ask British Columbians to vote for Andrew Weaver and the B.C. Greens on May 9.”
“It is an extraordinary honour to receive this unprecedented endorsement from one of the greatest inspirations in my life,” Weaver said. “David Suzuki was a childhood idol and an inspiration throughout my scientific career. He has helped generations of Canadians understand the importance of science and the world around them. I am so very grateful for his confidence in our vision and his endorsement today.”
