July 25, 2022

VICTORIA, B.C. – B.C Green Party leader Sonia Furstenau, MLA for Cowichan Valley, and Adam Olsen, MLA for Saanich North and the Islands and a member of Tsartlip First Nation will visit Wet’suwet’en territory over the next five days and attend the Peace and Unity Summit.

“It is an honour to have been invited by the Hereditary Chiefs to visit their beautiful territory and we look forward to spending time in the Wet’suwet’en territory,” said MLA Furstenau. “The Green Caucus will be hosting a panel during the Peace and Unity Summit and we look forward to having meaningful discussion with participants.”

“The BC NDP have promised a fundamentally different relationship with Indigenous leaders,” said MLA Olsen. “Unfortunately they continue to use the RCMP to enforce their resource policies. I look forward to attending the Peace and Unity Summit, and meeting with other community leaders in the area.”

In addition, Green MLAs will continue their healthcare tour and speak with healthcare professionals in the community.
