BC Greens raise $1846 for Men’s Health

VICTORIA, BC – The BC Green Party raised $1846 for men’s health. For the month of November Adam Olsen, Interim Leader, and Andrew Weaver, MLA and Deputy Leader, participated in the global Movember movement, growing mustaches and raising money for men’s health issues.

BC_Greens_Movember.jpg“We’re very proud to be supporting Movember. Men’s health issues often go over-looked, so anything we can do to help bring awareness to this important issue is great – even if that means growing these ‘staches.”, Adam Olsen, Interim Leader, said. “Movember is only one month a year, but let’s not be afraid to talk about these issues throughout the year – it may save someone’s life.”

1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and 1 in 5 men will experience a mental health issue this year. The impacts of these serious issues could be lessened if those affected seek attention early and take action. The BC Green Party prioritizes preventative health measures and that includes raising public awareness with the hopes that more people will get checked out and get help when they need it.

"I'm proud to have participated in Movember with my fellow BC Greens. When Adam Olsen challenged me to see who could grow the best moustache and raise the most money for this important cause, I jumped at the chance to go head to head with him" said Andrew Weaver, MLA and Deputy Leader. "I'm always up for a good competition, but, more importantly, men everywhere will benefit from the research and support that comes out of Movember."

Movember’s vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health… Through the power of the moustache, vital funds and awareness are raised to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges (ca.movember.com/about)
