Legislated paid sick leave - is it long overdue? Presented by David Fairey, Labour Economist

As provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry said, employees should not be penalized for staying home, yet that’s exactly what happens to workers who don’t have access to paid sick leave.

Workers in B.C. without a union collective agreement have no paid sick leave rights under the Employment Standards Act. How can our governments help to ensure workers have access to the sick leave? Join us as David Fairey leads us through this important topic and answers your questions.

David Fairey was a Labour Economist and Labour Relations Consultant with Trade Union Research Bureau in Vancouver for over 35 years, and is currently both an independent consultant and part-time Senior Advocate for the Health Sciences Association of BC. He is a Research Associate of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, and a Co-Chair of the B.C. Employment Standards Coalition.
