B.C. Greens welcome Premier Eby’s new cabinet

December 07, 2022

VICTORIA, B.C. - In response to Premier Eby’s new cabinet, Sonia Furstenau, leader of the B.C. Green Party and MLA for Cowichan Valley has released the following statement:

“On behalf of the BC Green caucus, we offer congratulations to the new and returning ministers. There is a lot of work to be done and I am looking forward to working with them on behalf of British Columbians.”

“We need this government to focus on the issues that really matter to the people of BC. Now more than ever we have a need for leadership focused on solutions. This new cabinet must ensure their solutions and actions are focused on delivering the services and supports that people need.”

“Premier Eby acknowledges the many crises we face in BC. This is an important starting place, but what matters are the outcomes for British Columbians. For too long, the NDP government has been treading water while more and more people struggle to meet their basic needs.”

“I am disappointed to see the status quo reflected in this government’s decisions on their environmental portfolios. The actions of the coming weeks will show whether or not British Columbians can expect environmental policy that meets the scale of the emergencies we face. I look forward to finding out whether or not Premier Eby will fulfill his promise for no more fossil fuel development - ultimately, actions speak louder than words.”
